Lyn Smith, a member of the Dominican Family from Auckland was recognised with two awards at the Catholic Education Convention in Wellington in June.
Lyn was one of four recipients of a Laureate Award for outstanding contribution to Catholic Education in New Zealand. This award recognises Lyn’s work over the last 20 years at a local and national level in Religious Education. In addition Lyn received an Excellence Award for outstanding contribution to Catholic Tertiary Education in New Zealand.
Lyn has lectured at Auckland’s Catholic Institute of Theology, the University of Auckland, the Catholic Institute of Aotearoa NZ, Te Kupenga – National Centre of Religious Studies and is a Religious Education Advisor. Lyn is a gifted teacher and her passion for the Catholic faith is evident in all she does. She has worked with teachers in Catholic schools throughout Aotearoa, and the integrity she brings to her teaching leaves an enduring mark on her students.
